2. For your own safety, always follow these basic precautions when using a Geryon appliance.


Read Quick Start and User Manual carefully for operating instructions.

  • Do not use appliance on wet or hot surfaces, or near a heat source.
  • Do not immerse any part of appliance, power cord or plug in water or other liquid.
  • To disconnect, unplug power cord from electrical outlet.
  • Do not disconnect by pulling on the cord.
  • Do not operate appliance with a damaged power cord or plug.
  • Do not operate the appliance if it malfunctions or is in any way damaged. For details, contact Consumer Services Email.
  • Use appliance only for its intended use.
  • Closely supervise children when using any electrical appliance.
  • Do not allow appliance to be used as a toy.

3. What is the Moist/Dry setting for?

 

  • This changes the seal level for the type of food - moist or dry. Liquids can be drawn up by the vacuum process and liquids between the layers of the bag can have a cooling effect on the heat seal. Adjustable Food Settings Seal Level can extend the seal time to compensate for liquid and create a secure, reliable and air-tight seal.

4. How to Clean Appliance:

 

  • Remove Power Cord from electrical outlet. 
  • Outside the unit: Wipe with a damp cloth or sponge and mild dish soap. 
  • Inside the unit: Wipe away any foods or liquids with a paper towel. (The upper gasket is not removable)
  • Cleaning bags for reuse: Wash the bags in warm water with a mild dishwashing soap, then rinse them will and allow them to dry completely before reusing.

5. Vacuum Sealing Troubleshooting

 

  • Nothing happens when I press down on the lid:
  1. Make sure the power cord is correctly plugged into the electrical outlet. 
  2. Make sure the power cord is not damaged in any way.
  3. Make sure the electrical outlet is operative by plugging in another appliance.
  • If it is not, please check the circuit breakers or fuses in your home. 
  1. Make sure the bag is positioned correctly down in the Vacuum Chamber. 
  2. Press down firmly on both sides of the lid. 
  3. Wait minutes to allow the appliance to cool off, and then try using again. 

6. Air is not vacuumed from the bag

 

  • Check the there are not gaps, folds, wrinkles or holes in the pre-sealed bags.
  • Check for loose, worn or cracked Upper and Lower Sealing Gaskets.
  • Too much liquid in the bag, freeze before vacuuming.
  • Check to see if the bag is properly inserted in to the Vacuum Chamber.
  • Make sure you've placed the bag in the proper place. When making a bag from a roll, make sure the end of the cut piece is on Sealing Strip.

7. Bag Melts

 

  • The sealing strip may have been too hot during the sealing process. Allow the unit to cool for 40 seconds between used. If the bag continues to melt, allow the unit to cool with the lid in the upright position for minutes before using. 
  • Use Geryon brand bags. Our Geryon Bags and Rolls are specially designed for Geryon units. 

8. Air Has Seeped back into the vacuumed bag

 

  • Check the seal of the bag. There may be a hole or wrinkle that is allowing air to re-enter the bag. Carefully cut the bag open and reseal it, or use an entirely new bag.
  • Make sure there is no moisture or liquid from the food present within the bag. You may need to cut open the bag and reseal it, or use an entirely new bag. 
  • Make sure there were no food items with sharp edges that may have punctured the bag. If you find a puncture hole seal the item in an entirely new bag.
  • Make sure no liquids were drawn to the sealing strip area.
  • Check for loose, worn or cracked Upper and Lower Sealing Gaskets. 
  • Moisture of foods with high liquid content will prevent the bag from sealing properly. Cut the bag open and wipe the top inside the bag and reseal. 
  • Fermentation or the release of natural gases from inside the foods may have occurred. When this happens, food may have begun to spoil and should be discarded.

9. Bag will not seal

 

  • Check that there aren't any gaps, folds, wrinkles or holes in pre sealed edges. 
  • Too much liquid in the bag, freeze before vacuuming. Moisture of foods with high liquid content will prevent the bag from sealing properly. 
  • Make sure you've placed the bag in the proper place. When making a bag from a roll, make sure the end of the cut piece is on Sealing Strip.
  • Make sure you give the appliance time to cool down. Wait at least 40 seconds between seals. 
  • Make sure there is enough bag material to reach the center of the vacuum chamber. Always allow 2.5 inches (6.35 cm) extra space to allow the bag to seal tightly around food contents. 
  • Gently stretch bag flat while inserting. 
  • Check for food debris around seal area. If present, take out the gasket, clean it and reinsert the Gasket into the Vacuum Channel. 

10. Bags

 

  • Do not re-use bags after simmering or microwaving

11. Gasket is loose or have a tear

 

  • Take out the gasket, clean it and reinsert the Gasket into the Vacuum Channel
